For their first match of the new year, Derby Colts travelled to a very wet Oadby Wyggs.
Despite some concerns by the ref re the playability of the pitch, we kicked off on time. The first half was very even with both teams attacking and defending well and it looked like it was going to be scoreless at half time but Derby dug deep and went over the line with seconds to go. Half time score 0-5 to Derby.
Although Derby looked stronger at the beginning of the second half it was Wyggs who got the second try.
Derby pushed back hard and dominated both the scrums and the line outs to get two more unconverted try’s in the second half. Play stopped for a short while whilst one of the lads put his teammates dislocated finger back in, ouch.
The match ended 5-15 to Derby.
