This week Derby Colts travelled to Dronfield for our return fixture.
Due to many of the experienced colts being injured or unable to play today, we had support from three under-16s plus two players who are both brand new to Derby and brand new to rugby.
Derby started well and we were soon on Dronfield’s try line. Dronfield were excellent in defence and managed to keep Derby from scoring.
Dronfield countered with two converted tries to make the half-time score 14-0 to Dronfield.
Derby played better in the second half but unfortunately, the inexperienced showed with a silly mistake which cost Derby 10 minutes in the bin with a yellow card and a penalty try. Although Derby scored two tries in the second half, we could not match Dronfield who continued to defend very well. Final score Dronfield 33 Derby 12.
