Sad passing of Pat Goodman

All at Derby Rugby Club are saddened to hear of the death of Pat Goodman. Pat was a stalwart of Derby’s first XV for many years and  stands fourth on the all time appearances list with 424. Pat was an old fashioned physical second row. He never took a backward step, he took no prisoners and was totally committed to the cause. Given his physique and style, he had good ball handling ability and fitness and these attributes allowed him to make a small number of appearances on the wing. Pat’s son David also played for Derby’s first XV adopting his dad’s no nonsense approach. Pat was one of the good guys and will be sadly missed. We would like to pass on our condolences to Pat’s family.
