During the 2023/24 season, the Junior section at DRFC are continuing to promote the determination and achievements of our young players as they represent the club so well and with such a superb attitude.

DRFC supports the aims to:

• win with dignity, lose with grace
• observe the laws and regulations of the game
• respect opponents, referees and participants
• reject cheating, discrimination, violence and drugs
• value volunteers and paid officials alike
• enjoy the game!

We continue to work within the remit of England rugby’s age grade guidance. This aids boys and girls to learn and enjoy the 15 a-side game through age-appropriate building blocks. This puts inclusivity and development at the forefront.

A question asked quite often is ‘What age group should my child play in?’

The simple answer is, if your child is at the age on August 31st, then they play under that age + 1 for the next season.

e.g.

• Fast Jimmy is 13 on Aug 31 – he plays in the u14s for the next season
• Skilful Bilal turns 13 on September 1st, then Bilal plays for the u13s for that season as he was 12 on Aug 31s
