10 September Colts Game Report: Derby 50-19 Dronfield

For our first full game of the season, we welcomed Dronfield Colts to Haslams Lane.

After a respectful minutes silence in remembrance of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II the match kicked off.

Derby dominated the first half with powerful scrums and some good hard hits resulting in the home team crossing the try line six times (four of which were converted). Half time score 38-0 to Derby.

Dronfield requested uncontested scrums due to their hooker not having much experience which was a blow to Derby as this had been a considerable area of strength in the first half.

Dronfield came out fighting in the second half and quickly put two past Derby both of which were converted. Derby came back with some nice interplay which resulted in a further two tries (one converted) from Derby.

Dronfield kept pushing and broke through our defence for a final unconverted try.

The match was ended by Dronfield with a few minutes left in the clock due to one of their players being injured, we all wish him a speedy recovery.

There were moments of great rugby from both teams.
Final score 50-19 to Derby.
