This week Derby Colts welcomed Notts Casuals for their first Friday night under the lights match of the season.
The match started very evenly with both teams attacking and defending well. Derby opened the score with an early try which was converted well.
Derby continued to handle the ball well with some good transitioning from forwards to back and were rewarded with another three tries and one conversion before the halftime whistle.
As the second half began, due to injuries, Notts were down to 14, in the true spirit of rugby, Derby took a player off to match this.
The play was very even during a large part of this half and it was thought there would be no further score. However, Derby dug deep and kicked up a gear, taking their opportunities as they arose resulting in a further three tries and one conversion to make the final score 41-0 to Derby.
A senior member of DRFC commented that Derby Colts are now playing with real quality.
A great match by both teams and a great opportunity to play under the lights (and the fireworks 💥).
Thanks again to everyone at DRFC who made it happen.
