The 2s welcomed the visitors Amber Valley to Haslams Lane in their return fixture having completed the league with the win against Melbourne the week earlier.
Valley had managed to keep derby quiet at their place with the 2s only had managed to cross the line to score 4 tries. With different conditions and squad including a debut from yet another Colt Francis Town (his older Brother Will played in the first fixture and scored the opening try), Derby were hoping to make the AGP count.
Now I could write all about the Derby tries but it wouldn’t do anything for the effort or exemplary values shown by Amber Valley as the scoreline would have seen it as a completely one-sided game. We appreciated the positive open game and the opportunity to keep working on our gameplay before the final battles versus Matlock and promotion hopefuls Tupton.
The scoresheet can be found on the RFU site.
